Mini Horse Herding at Spirits Promise
You’ve heard of herding sheep and herding cats, but have you ever heard of herding mini-horses? This wild (literally) experience is waiting for you at Spirit’s Promise Equine Rescue, where you can wrangle and run around with some of the cutest little ponies you’ve ever seen.
Mini Horse Herding is one of the most popular activities at Spirit’s Promise, and for good reason. In addition to getting to interact with these adorable animals, it’s a team activity. It’s the same kind of family fun as escape rooms, where you all strategize and build togetherness as you direct the tiny herd.
Spirit’s Promise is an Equine Rescue and Rehabilitation program for horses that have been abused and mistreated, but it is also a therapeutic center for visitors. In addition to activities that offer family fun, Spirit’s Promise real mission is more serious – it provides Equus Life Coaching, for example, a form of therapy where clients work with horses to heal from past trauma.
Mini Horse Herding occurs most Sundays (it’s available Saturdays, too, though there’s a break for the holiday season in early December) at Spirit’s Promise from 11am to 3:30 pm. Each session is 90 minutes, and costs $63 a person, and should be booked online in advance. Participants should bring sunscreen, a water bottle, and comfortable closed-toed shoes that you won’t mind getting messy, as there will be a lot of running around!
