History of Gold Coast Manors
Think estates like Downton Abbey only existed in the English countryside? Come to Mill Neck Manor for a tour and lecture on Long Island’s Gold Coast Manors, and see the kind of American castles you read about in The Great Gatsby. Tours are available to the public by appointment only once a month on Sundays.
Just $25 per person will transport you to the golden age of Long Island’s North Shore. The price includes tour, lecture and light refreshments, and while the grandeur of your surroundings may lead you to believe Mr. Carson will bring you drinks on a silver platter, sadly he is only a fictional character.
Mill Neck Manor is but one of the grand estates on the Gold Coast of the North Shore. Some of America’s foremost families built “summer cottages” here, including the duPonts, the Guggenheims, the Vanderbilts. You can tour many of these homes and even stay overnight at the Oheka Castle Hotel and Estate (note: theme packages run from the high three figures to $15,000. Can you say YOLO?)
Reservations required for the tour and fees must be paid in advance.
